"Compression" is the first work in a series called "Info" intended to provide relief from information overload through gentle noise. It’s composed of three hours of soothing drone created by removing redundancies from sound files at the cost of creating artefacts, which are what the listener actually hears: compression without information, noise without the signal.

Like Alvin Lucier's 'I'm Sitting in a Room' amplifying imperfections with every replay. Like internet memes degrading with every upload: growing pixel tumours in the shape of glitches. Like biases in the news skewing and diverging our society as self-fulfilling prophecies.

The album was created by recording simple and slow gestures from various analog synthesizers, compressing those gestures into low fidelity MP3 format countless times and ultimately removing the original signal from the recording leaving only the compression artefacts.

Three pieces of album art were created by computational graphic designer Mark Webster through custom dithering algorithms, a method normally used to prevent aliasing while downsampling, in images and sound, by adding noise.
